An hour north of San Diego and ninety minutes from LA, Temecula is Southern California’s answer to the question “can we do a wine country weekend without flying to Napa?” Rolling vineyard hills, forty-plus wineries, hot air balloons at sunrise — and, crucially for groups, estate homes on a scale that wine country up north simply doesn’t offer at the price.
This is where Southern California celebrates: milestone birthdays, bachelorette weekends, family reunions, small weddings. The estates below sleep 10 to 26 people, and several come with vineyards of their own.
The estates
The Oaktree Estate — sleeps 26 on 7 private acres

The biggest home in our entire Southern California collection. Oaktree is a 7-acre private resort with its own lake, pool, vineyard, and a spa and wellness center — ten bedrooms sleeping 26. This is the “everyone comes” property: three generations at a reunion, a full wedding party plus parents, or a company offsite that doesn’t feel like one. Pet-friendly too.
Vaquero — modern wine country resort, sleeps 20

Vaquero is what happens when someone builds a boutique resort and hands one group the keys: six bedrooms with private balconies and mountain views, tennis and basketball courts, and a proper pool scene. It’s our staff pick for big friend-group celebrations where half the crew wants a wine tour and the other half wants a tournament.
Vintners Village — California-chic wine estate, sleeps 20

Nine bedrooms of California-chic design in Country Road Estates, minutes from the wineries. Resort-style pool, room for 20, and pet-friendly — the family-reunion favorite where nobody fights over the good bathroom because there are plenty.
Rancho Agave Azul — the peaceful one, sleeps 20
A five-bedroom Murrieta retreat that sleeps a remarkable 20, just outside the wine trail. Fewer frills, more space and value — the smart pick when the trip budget is going toward tastings instead of the house.
Casa Fuerte — sports court estate, sleeps 16

Pool, hot tub, sports court, terrace — Casa Fuerte is built for the group that treats the estate as the destination and the wineries as the field trip. Six bedrooms, sleeps 16.
Casa Verde & Villa Verdot — for groups of 10
Not every wine country trip is a 20-person production. Casa Verde pairs a pickleball casita with a home theater, games room, pool, and spa. Villa Verdot counters with tennis, basketball, a games room, and six bedrooms. Both sleep 10 comfortably — perfect for a couples’ trip or a small milestone weekend.
Planning a Temecula group weekend
- Book a wine tour van early. The whole point of an estate is that nobody drives. Group tasting transport books out on spring and fall weekends — reserve it when you book the house.
- Balloons launch at dawn. Hot air balloon rides are Temecula’s signature morning — and they lift off around sunrise. Assign the early risers, let the rest sleep.
- Harvest season (Aug–Oct) is peak. It’s also the prettiest time on the vines. Book those weekends furthest ahead.
- Cook one big dinner. These estates have serious kitchens and outdoor dining setups. One long-table vineyard-view dinner at the house will be the photo everyone frames.
