Effective date: July 12, 2026
Vicasa Guides (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website as a curated guide to luxury group vacation rentals in Southern California. We are a recommendation and content site — we are not a booking platform. Every reservation you make through our links is completed on Booking.com or VRBO, and we never see or store your payment details, reservation information, or travel documents.
This policy explains what little we do collect, why, and what your choices are. We’ve tried to write it the way we write everything else on this site: plainly.
What We Collect
Information you give us
If you use our contact form, we receive the details you choose to share: your name, email address, the topic you select, and your message. We use this information solely to reply to you. It is sent to our business email inbox and is not added to any marketing list, sold, or shared with third parties.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the time of your visit. We use this information in aggregate to keep the site secure and understand which guides and destinations are most useful to our readers. Our site also uses caching technology to load faster, which may set functional cookies that do not identify you personally.
What we do not collect
We do not process bookings, payments, or reservations. We do not collect financial information, government IDs, or account passwords — we have no user accounts. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 16.
Affiliate Links and Third-Party Cookies
Vicasa Guides participates in the Booking.com Affiliate Partner Programme and the Expedia Group Affiliate Program (VRBO). When you click a “Check Availability” or booking link on our site, you leave our website and land on Booking.com or VRBO. Those platforms may set cookies in your browser to attribute your visit to us, which is how we earn a commission if you complete a booking — at no additional cost to you.
Once you are on Booking.com or VRBO, their privacy policies govern everything you do there, including any personal or payment information you provide. We encourage you to review them:
Our affiliate relationships never influence which properties we feature, and they never involve sharing your personal information with those platforms — the attribution happens through anonymous link tracking, not through data we hold about you.
Third-Party Services We Use
To run this site we rely on a small number of service providers, each of which may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses) as part of delivering their service:
- Web hosting — our site is hosted on managed WordPress infrastructure, which maintains standard access and security logs.
- Web fonts — our typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when the font files load.
- Booking platforms — Booking.com and VRBO, as described above, when you click through to them.
If we add analytics or other tools in the future, we will update this policy to reflect them.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to respond to your messages, keep the site fast and secure, understand which content is useful so we can write better guides, and comply with legal obligations. That’s the whole list. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information — to anyone, for any reason.
How Long We Keep It
Contact form messages are kept in our email inbox for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for reference, after which they are deleted. Server and security logs are retained on a rolling basis by our hosting provider and cycle out automatically.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live — including under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for visitors from the European Economic Area and the UK — you may have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct or delete it;
- Object to or restrict how we use it;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
Because we collect so little, fulfilling these requests is usually simple: in most cases the only personal information we hold is a contact form message you sent us. To make a request, reach us via our contact page or email us at [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL], and we will respond within 30 days. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them — the site will work fine either way.
Links to Other Websites
Our destination guides and property pages link to external websites — booking platforms, attractions, restaurants, and other resources we think are helpful. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and this policy does not apply to them.
Security
Our site is served over HTTPS, and we limit the personal information we collect in the first place — the best way to protect data is to not hold it. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the minimal data we handle.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how we handle personal information — for example, by adding analytics or a newsletter — we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top. Meaningful changes will be noted clearly rather than buried.
